Man Shot In Rahway: Police

A 20-year-old man was shot in Rahway on the evening of Tuesday, Oct. 22, authorities said.

At 7:15 p.m., officers responded to a report of gunfire at Bond and Washington Streets and found the 20-year-old with a single gunshot wound at an Exxon gas station, Director of Police Nicholas Breiner and Chief Law Enforcement Officer Shawn Ganley said.

The man was treated on scene and transported to a regional trauma center by emergency medical services, authorities said. He currently remains in stable condition, authorities said..

An initial investigation indicates the shooting took place near the basketball courts at Bond and Washington Streets, authorities said. Two additional individuals were present at the time of the incident, authorities said The Union County Crime Scene Unit and Middlesex County Sheriff's K-9 Unit responded to assist with the investigation, which remains ongoing.
